There are truly many exciting things to see and do in Niagara Falls. Beyond the Niagara Falls themselves, there are several other aspects to Niagara that attract millions each year. In Thorold Ontario, approximately 10 minute drive west of Niagara Falls is the old Keefer Mansion. This building was created in 1886, and was built on the same land as the American Hospital through the war of 1812. After being used as a home for the brilliant Engineer Keefer family, it was used as a mental hospital, a bar, apartments, and Maplehurst Retirement Home. Now it has been completely remodelled to house one of Niagara’s most tasteful restaurants and Bed & Breakfast. However, the spirits still seem responsible for footsteps heard inside an upstairs room, and banging on the stairwell. Squeaky sounds of opening gates, lingering pipe smoke in the basement where figures have been sighted, and faucets turning themselves on and then off are a few of the strange incidents that have occurred here.

After the war of 1812, the city of Niagara on the Lake was burnt to the ground as the Americans retreated from the city. A British officer by the name of “Captain Swayze” was reportedly murdered by 2 American soldiers in the basement of what is now known as the “Angel Inn”. Guests say that there is a ‘cold spot’ upon entering the bathrooms, which is commonly known as paranormal activity. They indicate to this day that the British officer seems to have distaste for Americans to the point where he’s known to disrupt the kegs of the “Ameribeer” when the innkeepers attempt to serve it.

There are several other areas known for their ghostly encounters and many even offer seasonal haunted tours for guests to experience. Fort George in Niagara on the Lake, and Fort Niagara across the river in the US are both known for their spooky encounters from the many soldiers who died during 1812. You will come away feeling like a new person in a completely purified body. There are many things to do on your holiday in Tuscany and you will not forget it.
